Change your mindset to reduce your stress

Stress Management Strategy #3: Adapt to the stressor.

If you can't change the stressor, change yourself. You can adapt to stressful situations and regain your sense of control by changing your expectations and attitude.

You can start by reframing problems. Try to view stressful situations from a more positive perspective. Rather than fuming about a traffic jam, look at it as an opportunity to pause and regroup, listen to your favorite radio station, or enjoy some alone time.

It also helps to focus on the positive. When stress is getting you down, take a moment to reflect on all of the things you appreciate in your life, including your own positive qualities and gifts. This simple strategy can help you keep things in perspective.

Here's a tip to help you adjust your attitude: each time you start to have a negative thought, pay attention to it. And eliminate words such as "always," "never," "should," and "must." These are tell-tale marks of self-defeating thoughts.

How you think can have a profound effect on your emotional and physical well-being. Each time you think a negative thought about yourself, your body reacts as if it were in the throes of a tension-filled situation. If you see good things about yourself, you are more likely to feel good; the reverse is also true.

Always one to be in tune with how her clients feel, Laura Perez, one of our massage therapists, describes her approach:

"What I think is special about being a therapist is to have good intentions in your heart when you work on someone-- the intention will transfer from your hands to the client."

You can be the one with good intentions by sharing the benefits of a relaxing massage with someone you care about. Either delight in a couple's massage, or select a gift certificate that they can use for the services of their choice. We now have new themes for the holidays that you can download and print directly from your computer.

Happy Pamper Yourself Thanksgiving.

Is it Thanksgiving already? This month has just flown by and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you, my wonderful customers and friends, for being so supportive. And I truly appreciate my invaluable Serve the Goddess staff, I feel so fortunate to work with such an amazing group of talented individuals.

I recently read a quote by author Melodie Beattie that resonated so much: "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life... it can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend."

I am grateful every day and delightfully relish every opportunity to show it. I hope that during this season you are able to bask in the love of your family and friends. There is nothing better than that.

The holiday season is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for our loved ones as well as practice being more loving to ourselves. It is a time to celebrate the heaven we have created right here on earth. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Want a stress free holiday?

If your methods of coping with stress aren't contributing to your greater emotional and physical health, it's time to find healthier ones. There are many healthy ways to manage and cope with stress, but they all require change. You can either alter the situation or change your reaction. It's your choice, and we hope you choose the former.

Stress Management Strategy #2: Alter the situation.

If you can't avoid a stressful situation, try to alter it. Figure out what you can do to change things so the problem doesn't present itself in the future. Often, this involves changing the way you communicate and operate in your daily life.

It is important to express your feelings instead of bottling them up. If something or someone is bothering you, communicate your concerns in an open and respectful way. If you don't voice your feelings, resentment will build and the situation will likely remain the same.
So here's something to try the next time you find that you've gone mute in a stressful situation. Visualize yourself in the driver's seat of your car, and your problems are hurtling toward you. Rather than taking a backseat in your life, deal with those problems head on. And do your best to anticipate and prevent them.

After all, a wise individual once said, "Most obstacles melt away when we make up our minds to walk boldly through them."

Have you tried Hot seashell massage therapy?

I wanted to introduce our newest treatment: hot seashell massage therapy. See below for more info.
What is it?

Hot seashell massage is a modality alternately attributed to Hawaii and the South Pacific Islands, and it utilizes heated seashells to expedite muscle relaxation.

How does it work?

Seashell massage employs smoothed shells filled with cement or organic materials. The sealed and resin-coated shells vary in size and shape. Larger, fanned shells cover surfaces like the back; smaller, conical shells fit between the toes, or into small "knots" of tension.

During a seashell massage, the therapist may opt to use only shells or alternate shells with her hands. They are heated in a water bath first and once the temperature is comfortable for the client, they are quickly dried and applied to the body. Shells can create familiar, sweeping strokes, or simply rest on a tense area.

What are the benefits?

In addition to warming muscles, the seashells have mild, exfoliating capabilities, and often complement scrubs or mud wraps. The therapist might add aromatherapy oils, lotions, or creams to enhance the treatment.

Proponents of seashell massage attest to the shells' positive vibrations as an added healing component. Many seashell massage therapists consider seashells energetically uplifting.

Feel the good vibes and try this massage out for yourself. You can learn more about it by clicking here.http://www.servethegoddess.com/services.html#seashell

Give a special gift of spa!

Give of yourself.

What you give truly comes back ten-fold. And happiness is a state of mind. Feeling happy makes you feel young, and it is the small acts of kindness and caring that you show to others that really makes the difference in your happiness levels.

The free and most simple way to do this is to show your smile! This is a special gift and not only will this cheer you up, but the most important thing is that you will have cheered others up!

Also, if you make every effort to have a positive attitude, this will rub off on those you meet. Once this happens, there is no stopping the spread of positive feelings to those they meet! And performing small acts of kindness is another way to make all the difference in someone's day.

We suggest giving a Serve the Goddess gift certificate https://servethegoddess.boomtime.com/lgift to someone who makes a difference in your life. Especially someone who wouldn't expect it, because it feels so good to put a smile on someone else's face. This will place you further along on the road to staying young and being happy. By giving of yourself, you will receive so much in return.
